Still going strong
OK, so this may be a phone released in 2018, but it's still going strong in 2024 and I see absolutely no need to replace it. I didn't even buy this phone new. I bought it in 2020 and paid around 1/3 of the price it had been new. I paid £385 for a 256GB model that was like new. The phone is far nicer to feel in the hand than the later models with their square edges. Improvements since 2018 have been incremental and over hyped by Apple as being "game changing", etc. I certainly don't use the phone for anything that it is not extremely capable of doing. I'm not a gamer, so the speed of the processor is largely irrelevant. In fact the graphics processor in the XS Max shows on Versus as being better than the one on the 16 Pro, at lease in terms of clock speed. When out and about, I see plenty of others who are still using XS Max phones, so I guess that I am not the only person who loves it and sees no reason to upgrade. My wife has one too, bought at around the same time as mine. She recently decided to upgrade to a 14 Plus, but when she received it, she didn't see any difference in performance and much preferred the feel of the curved sides on the XS Max, so the 14 Plus was sent back! Both our phones now show battery health as 79%, but our local Apple independent dealer has told us that they can fit a 3rd party battery for £25, so it's not the end of the world. I rarely run out of battery, but my wife does. By the time I go to bed and put it on overnight optimised charging, it usually has around 50% remaining.

I used to have this phone but i aciddently broke the side button and the volume button and the phone is on recovery mode and i cant open the phone i got so mad that i bite the phone.

The cameras are very good only the low light photos are a little problem but performance is very good and also the battery. I have battery health on 81% but it still last for 1-2.5 days or something like 18 hours on heavy using. The display is absolutely perfect because it is high resolution OLED panel.
